My Bucket List

Everyone has a list of things they want to do. From the most basic to the most impossible.  As you know from reading previous posts, one of my biggest desires is to travel.

The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.

However, there are many things I’d like to do with myself.

What is a Bucket List?

A Bucket List is a list you make of things you want to achieve and/or experience within your lifetime.

What is the point of writing a Bucket List down?

Have you ever gone to a grocery store without a list?  I have. Plenty of times!  What happens without a list?  You forget things. You end up getting things you didn’t really wanted or needed, but, grabbed it because it was there.

Writing down your Bucket List is pretty much the same concept.  You want to know that you are crossing off the things you want and need.  Not settling for a poor imitation.

I wrote down my bucket list within the last year.  No, I don’t think you’re ever too old to start one. I’ve let things pass me by in the past ten years.  Well, no more.

Many options to choose for your Bucket List

Bucket List

  1. Travel the country by RV
  2. Set my lifestyle up to work freelance from the road while traveling
  3. Visit all fifty states. Even if just driving through
  4. Move out of my born and raised state of Delaware
  5. Go on a Mediterranean Cruise
  6. Visit Area 51
  7. Travel the country by rail
  8. Write a book and get it published
  9. Learn a second language
  10. Learn sign language
  11. Learn how to bartend
  12. Go back to college and get my Bachelors Degree
  13. Get back down to my ideal weight
  14. Start my own business
  15. Fly in a hot air balloon
  16. See the Northern Lights
  17. Witness a Lunar eclipse
  18. Witness a Solar eclipse
  19. Take a dance class
  20. Fly into space
  21. Buy a brand new car. Not used
  22. Go to the airport and catch the next flight out. No itinerary
  23. Live in a different country for at least three to six months
  24. Fly first class
  25. Go on a vacation. By myself
  26. Go on a cruise
  27. Build up my retirement fund
  28. Go up to a stranger and introduce myself
  29. Road trip down the west coast
  30. Change my career
  31. Binge watch Netflix for an entire weekend
  32. Fall asleep in a field
  33. Volunteer – I’ve worked with Meals on Wheels, March of Dimes and a shelter
  34. Speak in front of a large crowd
  35. Become a pets human
  36. Become debt free

This is my Bucket List. Some things I had already done prior to this list, but, I would have added them even if I hadn’t done them. Plus, well, it makes it look like I’ve done something with my life, doesn’t it?  I know there are more things I want to add and I will as I remember them.

You may however be questioning the retirement fund. I added that because the longest job I’ve held was eight years. And these days? Not many companies offer what they did in the past so that you feel secure enough to retire.  And as I don’t want to work until the day I die? Building up my retirement is definitely something I want to experience!

Now that you’ve seen my list, what about you?  What is the biggest thing you would put on your list?  What about the smallest?

  1. I have a bucket list, but I really need to update it. Warning: Once you fly first class, you can never go back to coach. For reals! I’ve spoken in front a large crowd lots of times and it gets easier every time. I remember the first time – my mouth was so dry and I thought I was going to be sick. You have a great bucket list and I hope you do them all in your lifetime.

  2. now you have me thinking about my own bucket list. or lack thereof. i love the idea of putting thought into what you’d love to do, and especially writing everything down so that it becomes a step closer (hopefully) to reality. loving your list! thanks for sharing
